The Seattle Seahawks came to play yesterday. They wasted no time getting a comfortable lead against the struggling New York Giants. At the end of the first quarter the score was 21-0 Seattle and the game was pretty much over. While the final score was 42-30 Seattle, the game wasn’t this close. The Seahawks had a 42-3 going into the 4th quarter and stopped playing. The Giants scored some TDs in garbage time to make it slightly more respectable.
It was hyped as the game to watch this past week. It wasn’t the Colts at the Giants; it was Manning vs. Manning. I must say, the game lived up to the hype. In the end, Eli Manning showed his inexperience when he collapsed mentally and threw the game ending interception. He later blamed the officials, but they didn’t throw the ball. The Giants were still in the game.
The preseason has not even started (expect one game) and the Giants already have injuries mounting up. They are expected to fight for the NFC East title, but they better get healthy fast. On Monday, new Giant LaVar Arrington was absent from practice due to his knee swelling. RB Derrick Ward is out with a broken foot.
The New York Giants are playing Johnny come lately with their draft signings. They finally signed their first 2006 draft pick. Defensive tackle, Barry Cofield, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL draft. He’s agreed to a four year deal with the Giants. To set him up right, the Giants gave him a signing bonus of $405,000.
