Absolutely Disgusting

That was my feeling after watching the Monday night game between the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals. Saying the Bears didn’t deserve the win was the understatement of the century. Actually, neither team deserved anything. The Bears offense turned out a performance that would make even the Raiders offense laugh.

The Cardinals made NFL history in a bad way last night. They became the first team to lose back-to-back games when being ahead by at least 14 points in each of those games. I don’t want to play Monday morning QB here, but here’s something for you. I was watching the game with someone and when the Cardinals went up 20-0, I told them that the Bears would somehow win by 1 point. As it turns out, I made a solid prediction.

How could I have known? It was really simple. When playing a good team, you can’t dink and dunk around the field. You can’t blow scoring opportunities. And you certainly can’t settle for field goal attempts and conservative play when you should be hitting the end zone. A message to the Cardinals: You were 1-4 going into the game. Why were you not letting the ball fly?

Let me say this right now to all you Cardinal fans. Don’t blame your kicker for missing. It’s not his fault. For one, he should not have even been in that spot. Your team blew the game. Want to blame someone? Start with the offensive coordinator who called a poor game—including the last two plays. Next, blame Edgerrin James for not being able to run the ball and of course, for not being able to hold onto it at a critical time.

How do you turn the ball over 6 times, have 9 first downs, go 4-14 on third down situations, have 168 yards of total offense, and beat a team that scored 23 points? It’s simple. You play the Arizona Cardinals. Before the season started, I wrote a preview about the Arizona Cardinals and pointed out how the excite of the season was unwarranted and how they would have yet another losing season. Last night was just more proof in the pudding. This team isn’t ready to win.
