NFL Betting - The Baltimore Ravens came into Monday night’s game against the Denver Broncos as an undefeated team. They were 4-0 and riding high behind new QB Steve McNair. However, when Monday night’s game was over, the Ravens simply looked defeated. Have we given the Ravens too much credit too soon? Is this team in real trouble?
The Denver Broncos looked a little more like a playoff team and a little less like a team in need of some new players on Monday. After giving up a first quarter field goal, the defense of the Broncos shut down the Ravens. Of course, the Ravens offense helped somewhat.
The Ravens offense looked terrible. They managed 257 yards of total offense. McNair threw three interceptions. The Ravens offense was 6 for 15 on third downs - 40% conversion rate.
I’m not about to sing the praises of Denver either. They did win and they did look better. However, this game was 6-3 in the 4th quarter. Despite the turnovers by the Ravens, they could have still won the game. The TD from Jake Plummer to Rod Smith came around the two-minute warning. It capped off a 55 yard, 8 play, drive that lasted 4 minutes 52 seconds.
The Broncos are now 3-1 and as mentioned, the Raven drop to 4-1. Jake Plummer only threw for 106 yards for the Broncos. He was 13 of 24 and had one TD and one interception.
Is this the new Broncos game plan? Should we expect to see Jake Plummer relegated to a rookie status QB who is just in there to “not lose it” for the Broncos? Even in his limited roll he still managed to throw an interception. It looks like the Broncos are going to rely on their defense and the running game. They’ll let Plummer dump off the ball now and then.
Even Phillip Rivers for the Chargers is getting more respect and leeway. The Broncos gets an early Christmas present as they face the winless Oakland Raiders in Denver this week. The Ravens go back to Baltimore to face another tough opponent - the Carolina Panthers.
