The Denver Broncos beat the Patriots 17-7 on Sunday night. Both teams go to 2-1 on the season. The Broncos continue to prove that they have little trouble winning at New England. The Broncos had a 10-0 lead at the half. Both teams traded TDs in the 4th quarter.
Jake Plummer had a much needed improved game. Perhaps he just needed to get away from the Broncos crowd in Denver that’s chanting for his removal. Plummer was 15 of 30 for 256 yards and 2 TDs. The 50% completion rate isn’t the best, but what’s most important is that Plummer didn’t throw an interception.
Tom Brady was 31 of 55 for 320 yards and 1 TD. While his yards through the air was great, the Patriots failed to follow up his performance with a decent ground game. The Broncos held the Patriots to just 50 yards on the ground. Maroney had 18 yards over 12 carries. His longest run was for 5 yards. Dillon followed him with 16 yards over 5 carries—including one 10 yard run.
New England goes on the road to face the 3-0 Cincinnati Bengals next week. The Broncos have a bye.
