Colts Win Battle With Jaguars

The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 21-14 on Sunday. The Colts run their record to 3-0, while the Jaguars drop to 2-1. These two teams are looking like they could meet again in the NFL playoffs. Jacksonville’s defense has been keeping them in games. They held the Colts offense to 272 total yards.

Payton Manning was 14 of 31 for 219 yards and 1 TD. Rhodes added 48 yards over 14 carries on the ground. The Colts are really missing Edgerrin James. One of Rhodes runs was for 17 yards. Take that away and you have 13 carries for 31 yards—just over 2 yards per carry.

Leftwich was 16 of 28 for 107 yards and 1 TD. He also threw two interceptions. Jones-Drew had 103 yards over 13 carries. The Jacksonville offense is mediocre and they rely on their defense to keep them in games. It almost worked this time. The big play came on special teams for the Colts. If not for that one runback for a TD, this game may have went to OT.

The 3-0 Colts will travel to New York to face the 2-1 Jets on Sunday. Jacksonville goes to Washington to face the Redskins. Jacksonville’s defense could have a field day against the struggling offense of the Redskins.
