Marshall Faulk is not sure if he will be a go for the 2006 season, which would be his 13th. His knees just aren’t cooperating and he might have to throw in the towel and retire. If you remember, Faulk had surgery on both of his knees early this year. It’s quite possible that he needs more surgery. His agent, Rocky Arceneaux, said that playing this coming year is basically a “coin toss.â€
It’s never good when your agent calls your chances of playing a coin toss. Usually they are very optimistic and more worried about money than potential problems. I think we have seen the last of Faulk. Expect to see him as a TV announcer somewhere next year. He should probably retire. His knees are shot and if he can’t run hard, he’s going to get injured anyway.
Here’s a juicy piece of info from the Faulk. He’s apparently talked about doing broadcasting next year to rest and then coming back in 2007. It will be hard to come back in 2007 and he might pull a Chris Carter. He will come back in 2007 and perform so-so until his final retirement conference.
