Chicago beats Packers……Store Owner looses $300,000.00

A taste of the Favre still left a bitter taste for Greenbay on Sunday. Brett Favre is back but hardly noticeable. This ended the 233-game scoring streak that The Packers enjoyed. Chicago surprised many with their 26-0 win over Green Bay.

The story that caught me however was the $300,000.00 loss Randy Gonigam, furniture store owner in Kendall County, Chicago. Gonigam, owner of Gonigam’s World Furniture Mall offered his customers free furniture up to $10,000 if the Bears shut out the Packers in their Season Opener. Little did Gonigam know his customers were listening; over 200 customers rushed to the offer and literally dared Gonigam to put his money where his mouth was. By the end of the 4th he was $300k in the hole. No worries though, his publicity stunt paid off and may have bought him more potential customers in the long run. Gonigam recouped most of his losses by insuring the store for up to $300,000 worth of furniture with a company that specializes in insuring prize reimbursements. So I guess they were all winners. Chicago meets Detroit on Sunday with Chicago at -8.5 and Under 32.

There will be no La-z- boy giveaways but Chicago is hoping for another take………
