The New York Jets surprised the Bills by beating them 28-20 in Buffalo. The game started out good for the Bills, but things quickly turned for the worst. The Jets held a 14-10 halftime lead thanks to a TD as the half was expiring. The Bills added 10 points in the 4th quarter and tried coming back, but it was too late. They did recover an onside kick with time to tie the game, but the poor play of Losman killed the rally.
I’ll probably say this many more times, but here it goes again. J.P. Losman isn’t a good NFL QB. Forget arm strength and accuracy for a moment—I’m not saying he’s great in these areas either. Let’s talk about decision-making. It’s the one attribute that determines if someone is a good or poor NFL QB. Losman doesn’t have good decision-making abilities. I’m not just talking about who to throw to either. He can’t manage the clock at all and he makes far too many mistakes in regards to the downs, distance and what action to take.
Can he become a good NFL QB? I don’t think he will. You can have the best arm in the world, but if you can’t make great split second decisions, then you won’t be a great NFL QB. The QB position in the NFL is different in that it goes well beyond physical ability.
The Jets move to 2-1 and head home to host the Indianapolis Colts. They will be tested and could find themselves at 2-2. The Bills will try to get back on track as they host the Minnesota Vikings. Both teams are coming off of losses.
