NFL Week 5 Recap

NFL Football Betting – Week 5 in the NFL wasn’t full of too many surprises. The teams expected to win did so. The T.O. affair in Philly that was hyped beyond belief went away with a fizzle. The Eagles not only won the game, but T.O. wasn’t a factor. What did happen was Owen blowing up on the sidelines. We all knew it would happen sooner or later. Today Owens came out blaming anyone and everyone for the Cowboys loss. Ah, the same ol’ Owens.

Let’s quickly run down what happened in week 5.

The Steelers lost their 3rd straight as they fell to the now 3-1 Chargers 23-13. Not much of a surprise there. As mentioned the Eagles beat the Cowboys 38-24. The Eagles are now 4-1 on the season.

The Chiefs staged a late comeback and beat the Cardinals 23-20. The news here is that Matt Leinart got the start. The Jaguars destroyed the Jets 41-0. It was the Jets’ worst loss in some twenty years. Pennington was 10 of 17 with 71 yards passing.

The Raiders continued their quest towards 0-16 by losing to the 49ers 34-20. Meanwhile, the Bears continued their dominance by smacking down the Bills 40-7. The Panthers are now 3-2 after downing the Browns 20-12. Don’t write off the Panthers just yet. They now have a winning record with plenty of football left.

The Lions gave up 23 points in the 4th quarter and lost to the Vikings 26-17. Talk about your meltdowns. The Lions are 0-5 and in a heated battle with the Raiders, Buccaneers and Titans for the number 1 draft pick next season.

The Patriots climbed to 4-1 on the backs of the Dolphins by beating them 20-10. The Packers were in field goal range to tie the game, but Brett Favre fumbled the ball and the Packers lost to the Rams 23-20.

The surprising Saints went to 4-1 by beating the now 0-4 Buccaneers 24-21. Reggie Bush had a great game. Is it too late for Houston to draft him? What a mistake by Houston. Every week it’s already looking like they made one of the biggest draft blunders ever.

The Colts got a scare, but beat the Titans 14-13. The Titans are 0-5 solely because they became a team that settled for field goals instead of punching it in for TDs. What’s newsworthy here is that Vince Young started for the Titans. He’s now their starter for the rest of the season. It only took the Titans 5 games to realize that they were playing for 2007 draft pick position.

Finally, the Giants beat up the Redskins 19-3 in New York. Too bad the Redskins can’t play Houston again.
