Panther’s Smith still undecided

Carolina Panthers Coach John Fox has voiced his opinion on what could be a “game day decision” for all, pro receiver Steve Smiths’ strained left hamstring and an ingrown toenail that required stitches.

Smith only participated in 10 practice sessions in the preseason and did not play in any of Carolina’s four preseason games. Missing practice on Thursday may still hold hope that Smith may appear in the opener against Atlanta’s Falcons. Said if Smith’s lack of practice would be a problem, Quarterback Jake Delhomme “I don’t think so because he’s been out there a good bit practicing with us and he looked pretty darn good,”

Smith led the NFL with 103 catches for 1,563 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, earning his second career Pro Bowl trip. No other Panthers receiver caught more than 25 passes.

If Smith makes a no show then Keary Colbert and Drew Carter are expected to split time at receiver opposite Keyshawn Johnson, who was signed by Carolina in the off-season.

So Sunday’s game will tell the tale!

Panthers are a 5 points favorite over the Falcons - the over/under is set at 39.
