What’s the best cure for an ailing offense? Playing the worst defense in the NFL. There was little doubt that the Redskins would be able to move the ball against the poor defense of the Houston Texans. Mark Brunell made the game special by completing 22 passes in a row—an NFL record. This game ceased being on after the first quarter. The score was 21-7 Redskins at the half. The Redskins added some more and beat the Texans 31-15.

Mark Brunell was 24 of 27 for 261 yards and a TD. He looked like a totally different QB. However, I’d like to insert a couple of caveats here before the media blows this out of proportion. First, he was playing the Texans—the worst defense in the NFL. Second, many of his passes were screens and dumps around the line of scrimmage. It’s still a great accomplishment—thank the receivers too. However, don’t run out and start yelling that the Redskins offense is back.

Carr was 19 of 29 for 208 yards and 2 TDs. He also threw an interception. The Texans were held to 61 yards on the ground. They continue to have problems and are now 0-3.

The Redskins finally win a game and are now 1-2. However, the honeymoon might be over. Next week they are hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1). Houston stays at home and welcomes the Miami Dolphins next week.
