A man sued Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor via a civil suit. The man claims that during a fight in June, Taylor repeatedly hit him with a gun. The man is one Ryan Hill. He filed the suit last week in Miami Dade Circuit Court. According to reports, he is seeking $15,000 in damages from Sean Taylor. The damages include medical expenses and lost wages that were the result of the fight with Taylor.
Las month, prosecutors dropped felony charges against Taylor. However, he can still be sued via a civil suit for the incident. In the criminal trial, Taylor plead nolo contrendre to the charges, which included two misdemeanors for the incident. The sentence handed down by the court was just 18 months probation.
According to the lawsuit, Taylor repeatedly attacked Ryan Hill, calling him a thief. The gun was no ordinary handgun. It was an assault rifle. Why is a playing in the NFL walking around with an assault rifle? When Ryan Hill tried to run away, Taylor and his posse chased Hill with baseball bats. According to the defense, Hill stole a vehicle belonging to Taylor and baited Taylor into the situation.
However, why did Taylor not contact the police? Why did he instead grab an assault rifle and assault Hill? No matter how you spin it, this NFL player had an assault rifle and used it in an attack—where his life was not in danger. Taylor appears to be a problem individual. He’s been fined seven times already in the NFL for late hits and other infractions. If you remember, Taylor was fined $17,000 for spitting in the face of Buccaneers running back, Michael Pittman.
It would be easy to say that Taylor is a disgrace to the NFL, but that would be letting the NFL off easy. The NFL is full of players who are in trouble with the law. The big question is, do we care? If we are entertained, is that all that’s matters?
