Yesterday, the Seattle Seahawks decided to part ways with veteran punter, Tom Rouen. The move was a tad surprising. Rouen has played for thirteen years, the last few in Seattle. He is now 38 and that may be a factor in the decision. Last season Rouen averaged 41.6 yards per punt.
One can only assume that the Seahawks like what they saw out of Gabe Lindstrom (1 year in the league) or perhaps rookie Ryan Plackemeier. It’s uncertain whether Tom Rouen will seek employment with another team—if another team is even interested. His release is just one move in a flurry of action from the Seahawks this off-season.
